Church Lane Surgery is committed to providing a safe environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times.
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination, or procedure where they feel one is required.
A chaperone is a trained healthcare professional (such as a Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant) or an appropriately trained member of our administration/reception team. Their role is to provide emotional comfort, reassurance, and act as a formal witness during the examination.
At Booking: You can request a chaperone when booking your appointment.
At Check-in: You can notify the receptionist upon arrival.
During Consultation:You can ask the clinician at any time during your appointment—even if the examination has already started.
Please note that family members or friends are not usually considered impartial observers, so they do not act as formal chaperones. However, you are welcome to have a trusted person present in addition to a clinical chaperone
The practice has a Chaperone policy in place and a copy is available on request from the Practice.
